Untitled Painting (measures 16.5" x 18") by Daniel Metchnek from Interact, a progressive studio of artists challenging perceptions of disability. Daniel Metchnek (1967-2024) identified as a Native American and Korean American artist. Symbols from his family’s history were an important part of his work. Metchnek often combined cultural symbols and wildlife to create images; he liked to explore animal subjects and wanted people to think about his experiences when viewing his work —particularly his use of color and his interest in different animals.
Interact’s Visual Arts department is made up of 74 artists and ten staff, who are also practicing artists. We work across disciplines, including painting, drawing, graphics, bookmaking, comics, fibers, and ceramics. As a gallery, we are committed to artistic equity and pay industry standard commissions on sales of artwork to all artists. The rest of the proceeds go back into supplies and programming.
